Tile & Grout FAQs
Tile and Grout Cleaning
What is Grout?
Grout is the mixture of cement, sand, and water that is filled between floor tiles – ceramic, mosaic, travertine, or any other tile during installation.
Why is Tile and Grout Cleaning Necessary?
Whether one is referring to a home, restaurant, hospital, or office, the condition of the tile and grout catches the visitor’s attention instantly as they walk in.
Additionally, grout lines are porous in nature and easily absorb grease, dirt, mold, mildew, and lime scale. These contaminants create patches on the grout joints, subsequently making the entire floor look dirty.
Unclean floors can have a negative impact on visitors in hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, offices, schools, and other organizations. Therefore, it is very necessary to protect, maintain, and preserve the tile and grout and keep them looking great. Not only for aesthetics, but more importantly, for safety and sanitary reasons.
The porous nature of grout creates harmful health effects if not cleaned properly as disease causing bacteria can accumulate in it resulting in foul odors and deteriorating Indoor Air Quality. These contaminants penetrate the tiny grout pores making it difficult to clean with conventional cleaning methods.
Sometimes the surface looks clean but it contains unseen filth that not only affects the brightness of the floor but leads to maintenance problems and premature replacement of your floors.
The longer your floors are neglected, the more difficult it is to clean. It will require special tile and grout cleaning equipment to bring your floors back to its original form.
According to the National Restaurant Association, dirty bathrooms in food service establishments create such a negative impression on patrons that they are likely never to return to the restaurant.
The impression that is left is, “If the bathroom is filthy, I wonder how clean the kitchen is.”
Food service facilities are fighting a losing battle if their porous floors are not professionally deep cleaned. This may result in a poor health inspection rating, hence, affecting revenue and profits.
Why is it Important to have My Tile and Grout floor sealed?
Sealing your tile and grout floors (and walls) is the only way to ensure your investment is protected from water and oil based stains and disease causing bacteria from being absorbed into the pores.
Why is it necessary for a Professional to apply the sealer? Why can’t I just do it myself?
Our technicians have the training, experience, and tools to properly seal your floors. It is crucial that your floors are prepped with a professional deep cleaning first to ensure that dirt, grease, and bacteria are fully extracted from your floors.
Will my floors ever have to be professionally cleaned and sealed again?
Yes. We have a Regular Maintenance Program in place to insure your floors stay in top condition. Sealers make your floors easier to maintain, but not maintenance-free.
